Entirely too much conversation about these protests, saying that all the businesses they have destroyed undermines their efforts. No.
Riots have been necessary since serfdom and probably even before. Riots were necessary when we dumped tea in the harbors, it was necessary when the French pulled out their guillotines. The system does not slow up, the cogs turn and will crush anybody in between. Standing up and shaking your fist is sometimes not enough. Taking a knee was not enough, marching and protesting peacefully got a civilian killed when a white supremacist ran his car into a crowd of protesters. People who say violence is not the answer will in the same breath say to support our troops, even though we were committing acts of violence...that are sanctioned. And that is literally the only difference. It’s not whether or not the cause is just, it is whether or not the establishment approves.
The bottom line is this: if you are angrier about the destruction of property and looting than you are about an unarmed man being killed senselessly, it is time to readjust your priorities.
